At Home With Kids
Through education, mentorship, and advocacy, I’ve deeply enjoyed working with and for kids in my last few years. Helping bright minds reach the opportunities they deserve is greatly fulfilling, and it’s shown me that in my future, one of my priorities is to protect and aid children. This has pointed me to a career as a child psychiatrist or an immigration lawyer, helping children reach their biggest, brightest dreams, those stars that they were taught they could never touch.
Robotix Institute
Even though I've never particularly enjoyed robotics, I've interned at the Robotix Institute (RXI) for 6 years, becoming a senior-level intern and educator last year. Why? It's all because of the children. I've loved working with the kids at RXI - teaching them, helping them work past their difficulties, and watching their growth. I've had students that have made permanent impressions on me, with their positivity, intelligence, and dedication.

RXI has taught me that in the future, I want to work with kids in some asset. Whether that be as a child psychiatrist or helping defend immigrant parents in court, I am insistent on protecting children in my future.

Dance Marathon
For the last 4 years, I've worked with Ravenwood Dance Marathon - however, this year, I served as the committee chair of fundraising. As a committee member, I recruited over 150 new dancers for the event, helped get corporate sponsors for the event, and helped set up Ravenwood fundraisers for the event. As a committee chair, I acquired corporate sponsors, set up procedures for our committee on how to call/email sponsors, and helped to lead the event - our team helped raise over $11K for RDM.

Working with RDM showed me that I want to make a change for more kids. As a doctor, I'd want to work as a child and adolescent psychiatrist, getting to be a safe space for them.

AbleVoices
For the last two years, I've worked with AbleVoices (AV), an organization focusing on self-expression for disabled students through photography. Last summer, I worked as a social media and relations intern, helping to showcase the summer classes through Instagram so that people could see all the amazing things AV did. But the most important thing I got to do, in my opinion, was talk to the students and get to know them. Many of them became my friends - Nick told me all about his love for cows, and Aurora told me everything about her skating.

Interacting with these students taught me how important the feeling of belonging is. Through writing, more people can feel represented, can feel as if they belong to a community.

Make-A-Wish
In my sophomore year, my co-president and I started Make-A-Wish Club at Ravenwood after being part of the Make-A-Wish Youth Leadership Council. Together, we've raised over $25,000 in conjunction with Ravenwood for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We've set up fundraisers such as Tacos and Trivia, Make-A-Wish Week of Wonder, Pumpkin Patch, and various chapter fundraisers, and held them in our local community. With our service, we've acquired new volunteers and spread awareness about the foundation.

This experience strengthened my desire to go into a field with kids. Their innocence and bright minds are everything - I hope to continue working to provide them with knowledge and help.
